First iPhone 5 adapters available now - Apple

The Lightning connector is for many Apple fans a real nuisance. Old equipment works so that is (if at all) only with an adapter. This is the official Apple (online) Store very expensive. First third-party alternatives, however, are now, a week before iPhone 5 launch, available (currently only in the U.S.). Whether these also are worth the money is, of course, not yet clear.

It's no secret that Apple's accessories shop is a million dollar business. Not for nothing they introduced with the iPhone 5 back its own dock-standard use instead of the same size micro USB standard. Cables, adapters and other accessories need to be neugekauft.

To use some old accessories still can, you can use Apple's new Lightning to 30-pin adapter. Furthermore, Apple is also a Lightning to Micro USB adapter ready (this but rather to comply with the EU Directive).

Well, even before the official launch of the iPhone 5 on 21 September, already have the first copies of these third-party adapters in the U.S. Amazon store available. Compared to the original it only cost about half to one third of the normal price. So you get the direct adapter for $ 10 (7.60 euros) instead of 29 euros and Adpatervariante with long cable for $ 17.95 (EUR 13.75) instead of 39 euros. To this adapter in Germany to purchase ready, it will take no longer too long.

Third-party accessories must, however, not necessarily worse than the orignalen Apple parts. Unfortunately, there are always black sheep among the accessory manufacturers offering cheapest replicas.
