The rumors regarding Apple's intention to increase the screen size of the next generation iPhone are susseguendo a great pace in recent weeks. Only a few hours ago 9to5Mac has launched yet another stone in the pond!
The popular U.S. blog has published a report which, if it proves true, would confirm a series of entries already heard about the iPhone 5: display size, resolution and the small dock connector. According to the report, Apple is currently testing several prototypes of the iPhone 5. This also confirms the rumors about the fact that Apple is still undecided on which to focus on design for its upcoming smartphone.
Here are the highlights of the report:
At this time we know there are some prototypes candidates to become the next iPhone, prototypes that are currently being tested. The prototypes are kept under lock and key in Apple headquarters, enclosed in shells specifically designed to mask out the design of a selected group of employees. We know of two prototypes of next-generation iPhone with a bigger display: called iPhone 5.1 and iPhone 5.2.
It is not known which of the two will then be officially launched, it is certain that both devices have a 3.95 inch display with a resolution of 1136 × 640 pixels. This corresponds with the current which sees the iPhone 5 with a display higher, but which will remain the same width of the current models. The report also points out that both prototypes are equipped with a dock connector smaller, even this news already heard before.
Apple will mount these smaller dock connectors on all the upcoming iPhone OS devices. The characteristic "pill form" of this new connector is easily recognizable. The size of the new connector is halfway between a micro-USB and a mini-USB.
Although 9to5Mac has always proved a very reliable source, but we can not know if you see the light and as a prototype as a new iPhone and iPhone 5. It is also worth remembering that Apple is also known for his being allowed to show prototypes "trick" to discourage any leaks.
According to these assumptions, it seems that Apple will release an iPhone totally redesigned next fall, with a larger display and a new dock connector.
